Frodo Baggins was a Hobbit from the Shire and the heir to his "uncle" Bilbo Baggins. Frodo was the main protagonist in the Lord of the Rings trilogy because of his role as a Ring-bearer. This means that he bore the One Ring. Frodo's journey ultimately led him to Mount Doom to destroy the One Ring. Along the entirety of his trip, Frodo was accompanied by his best friend Samwise Gamgee. Throughout the journey, Frodo traveled with allies, such as the Fellowship of the Ring, and pseudo-allies like Gollum. On the way to Mount Doom, Frodo faced many hardships, such as a Balrog, Shelob the Giant Spider, an attack by Gollum, as well as the corrupting nature of the ring itself.
