Gandalf is a wizard and one of the main protagonists in The Hobbit and in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. In the Tolkien world, Gandalf is one of the most decorated adventurers, having been part of many different adventuring groups as well as adventuring on his own. In most of the groups, Gandalf has been a part of he was by far the strongest member. Gandalf was a member of Thorin and Company and help retake Erebor from the dragon, Smaug. He was the founding member of the Fellowship of the Ring and helped to destroy the One Ring. While traveling with the Fellowship, Gandalf sacrificed himself to fight a Balrog by himself in order to keep the rest of the group safe. Gandalf was killed during the fight. However, 20 days after his death, Gandalf came back to life as Gandalf the White. Gandalf, now more powerful than ever, went on to lead all of the Free Peoples in the last part of the War of the Ring in order to provide Frodo enough time to drop the One Ring into Mount Doom.
